The Basics of Bitcoin Betting Online

While it may seem daunting for newcomers, betting with Bitcoin (or any other coin/token) is no different from placing FIAT bets at online casinos using US dollars or any other currency (FIAT stands for state-issued money). You can find quality casino games from established, leading providers, a wealth of bonuses, and reliable security at the most reputable sites. Modern Bitcoin casino gambling is a doddle because…

  • You can bet with a host of cryptocurrencies at top online casinos across Asia.
  • Some casinos are BTC/crypto only, while others accept FIAT currency deposits, too.
  • The use of so-called stablecoins (value pegged to the US dollar) such as Tether is also an option – more on this in our FAQ section.
  • Each crypto casino supports various internal wallets to hold different coins/tokens, often not just Bitcoin and Ethereum, see more details here.
  • You can play all your favourite games when you deposit with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as you would at a typical Asian casino.
  • And yes, security features like 2FA verification are also present in crypto online casinos, although not on every site.

Tip: If you are also interested in sports betting, Stake is your best bet for both casino games and sports betting.

1) Two Ways to Get Started

As described below, there are different ways to acquire crypto. You have to decide which one suits you better.

A) Buy Crypto Directly From the Casino

You can buy crypto directly from the casino through a third-party (on-ramp) provider such as MoonPay with BitStarz or Stake and Utorg as well as Paxful and Onramper with Bitcasino. However, the exchange rate may be less than ideal.

In addition, a KYC confirmation (Know Your Customer) is required. Besides, you usually need to open an account with these third-party payment services.

All in all, this is a less preferred alternative for us, which is why we prefer to purchase our coins from a proper crypto exchange / trading platform.

B: Go to the Crypto Exchange – Preferred

If you haven’t already, open a free account on an Asian-friendly crypto exchange like Binance or KuCoin, transfer real money there and buy the coins/tokens of your choice. You can find the step-by-step guide here.

Not that it matters to your crypto betting experience, but the main difference between coins and tokens is that coins have their own blockchain (like Bitcoin and Ethereum), while tokens are formed on the existing blockchain (like Tether USDT on Ethereum’s ECR20 blockchain).

Deposit Money on the Exchange

Since international regulations are constantly changing, the payment options on the crypto exchange can also vary from country to country. As a rule, money can be transferred to a crypto exchange via card payment (high fees) or bank transfer (SWIFT/SEPA – no fees). For the latter, we recommend Advanced Cash (Advcash), a low-cost payment service, currency exchange and more, which is also integrated with Binance (in addition, you can buy and sell cryptos via Advcash).

Other third-party (on-ramp) providers such as Banxa or Simplex also allow the direct purchase of cryptos via the exchange, but here we have similar inconveniences as with direct purchases in casinos (lower exchange rates and higher fees). Peer To Peer Trading (P2P) is another way of acquiring cryptos, but you need to know a bit more about it – so this is not really for beginners.

Take it easy, at first you might think that you only want to try out cryptocurrencies in an online casino and not bother with the other trappings. But don’t be fooled. Chances are you will become more and more interested in it, because crypto is more than just playing a few hands at the baccarat table.

2) Get Yourself a Crypto Wallet

Even though it is possible to buy cryptocurrencies through an exchange and send them directly to the casino, it is still best practice to have a personal wallet as well (for self-custody). Cold (hardware) and hot (web browser, software) wallets exist. In theory, you can wait to do this if you already have an account with an exchange, but you might as well set yourself up properly from the start (see the step-by-step guide here).

Once you know the cryptocurrency you want to play with, visit an exchange such as Binance to purchase Bitcoin, Ethereum or whatever you prefer with conventional banking options. You may want to transfer your cryptocurrencies to your wallet after buying them on an exchange, but this would be an extra step.

Wallets should be seen as a place to hold cryptos. In turn, if you want to trade or cash out your coins/tokens at a later date, you will transfer them back to the exchange.

Note: Make sure you never share your wallet/private key (the seed phrase) on the internet. Don’t even save it on your computer or phone by taking a picture of it, for example! Always keep it offline in a safe place, e.g. by hiding various backup copies on paper in places only you have access to. With crypto you are the bank!

3) Find Yourself a Crypto Casino

Look at our crypto casino reviews, and when you see one that you like the look of, take note of the cryptocurrencies it supports. You could always acquire cryptos first (ideally through an exchange), and most casinos accept more than one.

While it is very unlikely that a casino will support a cryptocurrency that is far from the top 100 (although it is not impossible), the big names like BTC, ETH, LTC or the stablecoin USDT will certainly be accepted. Coins that have basically earned their following as memes, like DOGE, are often accepted as well – even Shiba Inu (SHIB), which is supported at Stake.com.

4) Make Your Crypto Deposit

The process of sending Bitcoin and other cryptos is not much different from traditional casino deposits, and the gameplay is also identical. Once you’ve set yourself up with an exchange and wallet and its packing cryptocurrency, it is time to revisit your chosen casino and get ready to bet.

Depositing with cryptos is a broadly similar process to depositing with an e-wallet:

  • Head to the banking or cashier area of your online casino, select your deposit method or type of cryptocurrency and copy the deposit/receive address displayed. The address, consisting of numbers and letters, is unique and linked to your wallet in the casino for this particular cryptocurrency.
  • Log into your crypto exchange or open your hot/cold wallet, visit the appropriate withdrawal area and paste the address in (for the particular coin you wish to send), alongside the amount of BTC, ETH, BCH (or others) that you wish to deposit to process the transaction. You’ll receive a confirmation, and the funds should appear in your account within fifteen minutes, but usually pretty much immediately (this depends on the number of network confirmations). That’s it.
  • The same applies to withdrawals but vice versa, i.e. using the receive address of a particular coin in the target wallet, e.g. at a crypto exchange and pasting it into the withdrawal area of your casino (please also see our remark further below).
  • Make sure to always use the copy button (or QR code option) next to the address to avoid any typo. Any mistake in the address may lead to the irrevocable loss of your funds.

Deposit and withdrawal addresses: When you read “deposit” and “withdrawal” address, you might assume that you use both formats in a crypto casino. This is a little misleading. In the end, they are simply “receive” addresses. Each asset/coin or the associated wallet has its receive address (with BTC, for example, you can also generate several addresses) to which you either send or receive funds. When you think of deposit and withdrawal addresses, this can be a bit confusing because you might assume that a wallet has both a sending and receiving address, when in fact all addresses are receiving addresses, plain and simple. Or perhaps not?

Example: You send BTC from a crypto exchange to the BTC (receive) address of your casino. Then, when you want to send BTC from the casino to the crypto exchange (or to a hot or cold wallet), use the BTC (receive) address you copied there to use in the casino’s withdrawal area. Therefore, each platform/wallet uses only one receive address at a time.

Time to Bet With Crypto

As you can see, the process of getting cryptocurrencies and depositing them in online casinos is not too tedious or complicated, even for the uninitiated. However, you may still have questions, and we’re happy to answer some of those in the FAQ below.

Your Questions Answered – Cryptocurrency Casino FAQs

No major country has expressly said that it is legal to bet with FIAT currencies and not cryptocurrencies. Most countries have not chosen to regulate cryptocurrency gambling. The standard gambling laws of each country, therefore, apply to crypto gambling, too.

Note: In the terms and conditions of any betting site, you should find a list of countries where it is not possible to open a player account. If you are concerned about this, it is ultimately your responsibility to check the current legal situation regarding online gambling in your country of residence. However, in our casino reviews, we point out the countries in Asia where you can open a casino account without any problems.

Cryptocurrencies are highly volatile, and this may represent an added risk when betting. Their value can rise and drop rapidly. Unless you have been living under a rock, you will have noticed that Bitcoin in particular has a reputation for being volatile.

When the Bitcoin price is falling, a win may not feel like much when it comes to withdrawing it. However, when the price goes up, you may very well find yourself gambling with more money than your initial deposit was worth. This in itself is a gamble, and while we advise you to keep an eye on the price of the cryptocurrency you are betting with, it is a risk we are happy to take, but it may not be for everyone.

Make sure you gamble with an amount you are comfortable with, taking into account price drops or sideways movements in terms of value.

Similarly, losing your wallet key (private key) means an added risk. You can't just ring up the bank and ask for a new password. However, at least in gambling terms, the added encryption, blockchain protection and anonymity of cryptocurrencies arguably make them safer than most FIAT payment methods.

It is safe to say that for many, placing bets with cryptos in an online casino is something new. Of course, nothing changes in the way the games are played (a round at the baccarat table, for example, still costs the same), but the previously described volatility of the assets opens up a whole new spectrum to betting with cryptocurrencies.

While the stakes in the casino remain the same, the value of the crypto bankroll fluctuates depending on the price of the asset in question (e.g. Bitcoin). It is not only exciting but also interesting to observe when the price of the respective coin or token goes up. In turn, it is equally important to always keep an eye on the asset prices. One way to do this is to set up a crypto portfolio for your review on websites like coinmarketcap.com or coingecko.com.

Another key feature is the anonymity of crypto transfers. Of course, transfers via the blockchain are theoretically traceable, but they cannot be assigned to a person. You are in control of your funds, i.e. you always decide how much you transfer, when and where. Annoying KYC or AML verifications (in our eyes, protocols for the preemptive general suspicion of every person) do not apply here. There is no institution requesting information from you. Of course, this should not be confused with the account verification process at a crypto exchange.

Yes, at least this applies to Tether USDT, the stablecoin with the largest market cap. Other stablecoins such as Coinbase' USDC or Binance's BUSD are also supported by various crypto online casinos such as Stake (both USDC and BUSD) and Bitcasino (BUSD). In general, however, this is less common.

For your information, other relatively influential stablecoins are Dai (DAI), TrueUSD (TUSD) and PAX Dollar (USDP) - all these run on the Ethereum ERC20 network.

Stablecoins, whose value is based on the US dollar, are designed to provide price stability by being backed by a reserve asset. In other words, coins like USDT are a welcome alternative for those who want to bet with cryptos without taking the risk of a sharp price drop.

Select your cryptocurrency on the deposit page and be sure to copy the one-time address displayed there. Paste that into your wallet or exchange or simplify the process by scanning a QR code if you have a mobile wallet (this is also an option with MetaMask and Exodus for example). Process the transaction, and your deposit will arrive in your account immediately (within 15 minutes at the latest).

Note that while the crypto casinos do not charge fees for deposits or withdrawals, your wallet/payment provider may charge a small miners fee for processing your deposit via the blockchain (note that transfers via the Ethereum network, for example for USDT, can incur very high fees). Your casino usually covers withdrawal transaction fees.

  • Bitcoin Network for BTC (reasonable fees)
  • Binance Smart Chain Network for ADA, BCH, DOGE, EOS, LTC, TRX, XRP (very low fees)
  • Ethereum Network for ETH, USDT (the fees are usually at the upper end)

Yes, but make sure you play at a full-fledged crypto casino like BitStarz, Stake.com, Kosmonaut or Bitcasino. Each cryptocurrency in your casino account is supported by its own wallet, of course.

It should be noted that you can also deposit and withdraw FIAT money at most crypto betting sites (note that Bitcasino and Stake are limited in this respect). Usually, multiple currencies are supported, such as USD, AUD, NZD, JPY, etc. Just like cryptocurrencies, these are kept in individual wallets.

When you open a game, the funds of the wallet selected in the account area are used. However, it may happen that the games of various software developers are not compatible with BTC or crypto at every casino. More about this in the next FAQ item.

First of all: It depends on the gambling site whether it offers either all or a selected range of games where you can bet with BTC and other coins. At the casino, these games are often divided into categories such as BTC slots, ETH slots, Bitcoin games, and so on.

Here are some developers whose games support crypto betting (guaranteed with BTC): Amatic, Belatra, Betsoft, BGaming, Booming, Booongo, Endorphina, Evolution (live dealer games), EvoPlay, Golden Hero, Habanero, iSoftBet, Mascot, NetGame, No Limit City, One Touch (live dealer games), Platipus, Play'n GO, Pragmatic Play, Playson, Spinomenal, Wazdan

At Bitcasino and Stake, for example, you can place crypto bets on any game. At BitStarz and Kosmonaut, on the other hand, you can only bet on games from selected developers, at least if you play with a cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin. In other words: All games support BTC betting, but this may be different for coins like Tether USDT (applies to Play'n GO and Pragmatic Play games, among others).

If a casino cannot provide certain games in a specific cryptocurrency, you can only play them if you change the wallet currency. One option is to make a deposit to one of the real money wallets (FIAT) or to play with Bitcoin. The real money wallets can also be topped up by crypto payment using Coinspaid, an integrated service. If this seems too inconvenient, it is better to play at a casino where this is not the case, such as Stake.com and Bitcasino.

Finally, you may wonder what currency is displayed in the games. Again, it depends on the developer. Many games still display the FIAT equivalent of the cryptocurrency balance (see example below), while other games display the cryptocurrency in which they are played. Don't forget, the market price of crypto varies constantly.

Bitcasino crypto to FIAT

Important: At traditional crypto casinos, the coins/tokens are not exchanged for FIAT. In this regard, please also note the next FAQ item.

First, we distinguish between two types of cryptocurrency casinos:

  • Those where you bet with crypto...
  • ...and those that convert your deposited coins into real money (FIAT).

In our opinion, the latter variant is anything but beneficial. Just think of the market price fluctuations. If you then want to withdraw your winnings in crypto, another conversion takes place. That's why we only recommend fully-fledged crypto casinos on this page - those that hold the crypto balances in individual wallets.

As mentioned in the previous FAQ point, most sites support real money currencies as well as crypto (note that Bitcasino and Stake are limited in this respect). These are also held in their wallets, so you can switch between them at will. Alternatively, FIAT can also be deposited using cryptocurrencies (usually via Coinspaid, an integrated service), but we don't understand why anyone would do that.

If available, another option is to "buy" cryptos via third-party providers (such as MoonPay with BitStarz and Utorg with Bitcasino). Although it is certainly possible to buy crypto through these payment providers, we would personally only consider this as a last alternative. You'll almost certainly need to clear a KYC process, which makes the anonymity aspect of playing with cryptos a touch redundant.

Yes. BitStarz and Bitcasino support the MetaMask browser wallet, which is suitable for Ethereum deposits (see details here). Once you are logged into your casino account, allow MetaMask to connect to the BitStarz or Bitcasino website and continue as usual. Alternatively, you can buy Ethereum by using your debit card or Apple Pay, and then simply transfer what you want to your casino account.

As soon as more crypto casinos join this trend, we will inform you about it here.

Almost every betting site offers new players a welcome bonus as well as follow-up promotions. In the case of crypto casinos, they usually also offer a pure Bitcoin bonus. For details, we recommend taking a look at the respective reviews. Incidentally, Bitcoin casino bonuses are also subject to wagering requirements, as is the case with conventional bonuses.

In a word – yes. The reason for this is that all the major cryptocurrency betting sites apply the provably fair algorithm or provably fair gambling system. By definition and without wanting to get too technical, this algorithm checks and verifies the fairness of an online casino (or the games) to its players. Specifically, this process allows players to manually and personally verify the fairness of the slots or table games they play. This blockchain technology (which is a public ledger) is, of course, mainly found in Bitcoin or crypto casinos and their games.

Note, however, that not all games specifically use the provably fair RNG (random number generator), but only those that are designed to do so. For example, Stake.com offers a range of in-house, bespoke games that you won't find elsewhere. You should also like the fact that most of the provably fair slots tend to offer between 97% and 99% RTP. Furthermore, the slots by BGaming as well as the live dealer games by One Touch are provably fair. All other (mainstream) games use traditional RNGs, which are verified by external testing laboratories.

How does it work? The provability fair algorithm generates an encrypted key with the final results of the game and sends it to the player along with another key that allows him to verify the correctness of the outcome at the end of a game round. Since verifying these outcomes is a bit more time-consuming and may even distract from the fun of playing, it is even more logical to play at reputable crypto casinos online. However, if you want to check every result, it is indeed possible.

Reputable online casinos are audited by external third-party testing labs. However, due to the technology used by provably fair games, there is no need for third-party authentication and auditing. However, that doesn't mean that every single Bitcoin casino out there isn't audited by a third-party. Since these casinos also offer games that are not using the provably fair RNG, they still have to go through the usual licensing procedures. For the provably fair games, the players become the auditors, which ensures the highest level of transparency.

As cliché as the answer may be, we have a few favourites that are particularly suited for players in Asia: BitStarz, Kosmonaut, Stake.com and Bitcasino (yes, the same names). These sites are pure crypto casinos. However, in the case of BitStarz and Kosmonaut, real money (FIAT) can also be used, which is a plus. At Bitcasino you have the option to deposit Japanese Yen only.

Of course, there are also gambling sites that are primarily designed for real money gameplay, but also offer Bitcoin as a payment method. An example is Happy Luke. These may also be suitable, but if you are already using crypto, then it is best to play at a casino that specializes in it from the start. That, at least, is our opinion.

Some crypto casinos only permit deposits with Bitcoin, instead converting your deposit into FIAT currencies for gameplay. At these sites, you will likely need to withdraw via a FIAT option. Fortunately, at dedicated Bitcoin casinos, you can withdraw with your Crypto/Bitcoin wallet. To withdraw, you must copy your wallet address and paste that into the box provided on the withdrawals page, alongside the amount required (see detailed withdrawals guide). Most cryptocurrency casinos won't charge you a transaction fee and often cover this fee themselves. If a fee is charged, it is usually small.

Withdrawals via Bitcoin are far speedier than most FIAT currency options, so you should get hold of your winnings in less than an hour, if not almost instantly. Remember that the price of crytpos fluctuates, so it is advisable to check the price of the particular coin or token before making a withdrawal.

At this point, you don't necessarily need to exchange your cryptos back into FIAT (real money currency) to transfer to a conventional bank account. Most recommended exchanges, as well as third-party providers such as Advcash (transfers can also be bridged between Advcash and Binance) or Wirex, offer prepaid cards that you can use to withdraw money or make everyday purchases.

In addition, you also usually benefit from generous interest rates (staking your coins is another alternative - basically holding the assets to earn interest - but that's another topic). In this respect, it is fair to say that it beats traditional banks hands down!

Are you worried about your funds when you bet with cryptocurrencies in online casinos? First of all, of course, you shouldn't store all your crypto assets in the casino, but that applies to virtually every area of the crypto sector (and the real world). ;-)

Depending on which site you bet on, the casino applies different levels of security. For example, Stake Casino sends a confirmation code to your email that you need to log in. You can also set up 2FA with an app like the one from Google. A 2FA or authenticator app is usually installed on a smartphone and generates a 6-8-digit code every 30 seconds.

2FA can be set up with the following crypto gambling sites: Bitcasino, BitStarz, Kosmonaut, Stake.

On the app, each platform (e.g. the casino and the crypto exchange) is set up separately. This is done by either scanning a QR code or entering the key provided by the platform.

The generated code can be used to log into the respective casino as well as to secure payments. For crypto exchanges, 2FA is also used as a confirmation to trade, deposit or withdraw funds from your account, or as a master key (the latter is the case with the Kraken exchange, for example). On a side note, authenticator apps are not tied in any way to your SIM card or phone number. This improves security by protecting your account from SIM swapping.

Even more secure, however, is the use of a physical authentication device called a security key (which can also be used on exchanges). A popular example is YubiKey, but that's a story for another time.

Obviously you clicked here, so you must be interested somehow. But jokes aside. Well, we like it and we also enjoy Bitcoin casino gambling, although it is far from being our main activity. To cut a long story short, we don't believe in the FUD from governments, institutions and some mega-wealthy cuckoos. Incidentally, the following statement captures Bitcoin's resilience quite well:

  • In 2010 they said - No one uses it.
  • 2012 - Only computer nerds use it.
  • 2013 - Only drug dealers use it.
  • 2014 - Only money launderers use it.
  • 2017 - Only gamblers use it (perhaps we need to reuse this). ;-)
  • 2019 - Only a small percentage of the population uses it.
  • 2020 - Only small companies use it.
  • 2021 - Only small countries...
  • Going forward - Only ??

Guide to Cashing Out Your Crypto Winnings

Withdrawing your crypto winnings is fast and easy. Moreover, you receive your coins within the given network (blockchain) times, so the payout is not held by the casino (otherwise called “pending period”). Therefore, the withdrawal is instantaneous and can be transferred to any crypto exchange or wallet. In this example we use Bitcasino as a reference and withdraw USDT (Tether).

Select the cryptocurrency you wish to withdraw

Step 1: Select the cryptocurrency you wish to withdraw. You have the option to choose between different networks/blockchains (in the example of USDT it is ERC20 or TRC20). You can also make a withdrawal directly to your MetaMask wallet.

Enter the amount of cryptocurrency you wish to withdraw

Step 2: Enter the amount of cryptocurrency you want to withdraw. Enter either a fixed amount (e.g. the total amount) or a specific amount.

Enter the wallet address for the withdrawal of the cryptocurrency

Step 3: Enter the wallet address for the withdrawal of the desired cryptocurrency. This can be the wallet address of a crypto exchange or your own self-custody hot or cold wallet such as Exodus or Ledger respectively.

Confirm the withdrawal of cryptocurrency

Step 4: Confirm the withdrawal. Within moments, the transfer will arrive at your specified address/wallet. The usual processing times of the respective network/blockchain apply.

Setting Up MetaMask With Your Crypto Casino

MetaMask Logo

MetaMask wallet is a browser add-on that can be used with Chrome, Firefox or Opera and can be downloaded from the website metamask.io. As in our Exodus example below, you set up your MetaMask account by choosing a password and making a secure note of your private key (recovery phrase).

Once you have connected MetaMask to BitStarz or Bitcasino (one click is all it takes), it is possible to either purchase Ethereum directly via the casino or transfer Ethereum you already own to your account. Ultimately, this can be a welcome alternative for those who do not intend to buy crypto through an exchange.

To pay with MetaMask at BitStarz and Bitcasino, select ETH in the cashier area and enter the amount you want to send. Scroll to the bottom of the pop-up window where there will be blue bar that says “Pay with MetaMask”. This will open up your MetaMask account window where you need to confirm the transaction.

Hint: For security reasons, when you are logged into MetaMask, you should only open the websites you are transacting with (ideally in a separate browser). Also, you should disconnect MetaMask via the wallet menu after you have finished the transfer, whether on BitStarz, Bitcasino or another website.

Setting Up and Sending Funds Using a Crypto Exchange

Binance Logo

For this example, let’s take Binance, one of the best-known exchanges with the largest market volume (always make sure you are on the right website – www.binance.com – to avoid phishing scams).

Step 1:

The Binance account opening process is limited to the bare essentials (including phone verification) and does not even require proof of address (of course, there may be differences in this process depending on the country you register from).

Once the account is open, you already have access to several options, such as the ability to deposit and trade. Again, as the verification process at Binance is quite straightforward, we recommend doing this sooner rather than later to fully unlock all account options. However, as part of the verification process, you will need to provide some personal information, present an official ID and undergo facial recognition.

One example of why verification should be completed is higher limits and lower fees. While unverified users can only withdraw a maximum of 0.06 BTC daily (which may be perfectly fine for many), those with verified accounts can withdraw up to 100 BTC daily – are there any high rollers visiting here right now? 😉

Also note that constant regulatory changes in countries are forcing some exchanges to make their KYC process more extensive. While verification is minimal for some exchanges, it can be immensely extensive for others. Binance and KuCoin still stand out positively here and verification should be confirmed in no more than an hour.

Step 2:

Make your first deposit by choosing card payment, bank transfer or deposit via a third-party provider such as Advanced Cash. Depending on the method, you have the option of buying a cryptocurrency directly or transferring the money to the exchange first.

Once the money is in your exchange account, the easiest way is the “Convert” option, which can be found under the “Trade” menu item. The desired amount can be exchanged there at the current rate. Don’t forget, stablecoins are a welcome alternative if you are not a fan of the volatility of other coins. If you have already purchased a cryptocurrency at the initial purchase, this step is not necessary.

Binance convert money to crypto

Step 3:

Now it is time to transfer the amount to the casino account. To do this, go to “Fiat and Spot” via the “Wallet” menu item and find the cryptocurrency of your choice. Then click on “Withdraw”, which will take you to the withdrawal area.

Back at the casino, locate your wallet deposit address by accessing the banking or deposit area in your account (see example below). Copy the displayed address using the “Copy” button (or use the QR code option) to avoid typos and paste it into the address field in the withdrawal area of the exchange. Regarding the network used for the transfer, to be on the safe side, you should always select the network intended for the respective crypto, e.g. BTC for Bitcoin or ERC20 for Ethereum. You will then have to confirm the transfer (email code and 2FA authentication, if activated).

BitStarz Casino crypto deposit

The process of transferring funds from the crypto casino back to the exchange is identical, only the other way around. On the exchange, you go to the asset of your choice and click “Deposit”. The address that is now displayed is your unique deposit address on the exchange for the respective cryptocurrency. You have to enter this address in the payout area of your crypto casino.

Setting Up and Sending Funds Using a Crypto Wallet

As touched on, there are so-called hot and cold (hardware) wallets that correspond to being online or offline, the latter being the safest option. In short, a cryptocurrency wallet is a program (browser, desktop, mobile) or device used to store, send and receive your coins and tokens. It also stores your public address and your private key, which is the ultimate access to your assets (or, metaphorically speaking, the key to your bank vault).

Examples of cold hardware wallets are Ledger and Trezor (see below). A common browser extension for hot wallets is MetaMask. A popular software solution is again Exodus, which we use for our guide below. Of course, there is no standard for wallets and the range of functions, so they differ from each other. Nevertheless, the basic mode of operation is the same.

Ledger and Trezor hardware wallet

Web and software wallets are free to set up and require no account signup. Cold wallets are not free, as they self-explanatorily involve an actual piece of hardware that must be purchased first. Cold wallets are the safest option if you are serious about your cryptocurrencies and hold a significant amount of assets.

Step 1:

Exodus Logo

Once you have downloaded and installed the free self-custody Exodus software from exodus.com (or for mobile phones via the Google/Apple Store), it is time to set it up or, as Exodus prefers to call it, “backing up your wallet” (see video). This means creating an access password and writing down your private key (recovery phrase), which is 12 words long.

Write this 12-word phrase down on paper and store it safely offline (possibly at different locations that are familiar to you)! Do not store a digital copy of it, don’t take a picture on your phone, don’t upload it to a cloud or anything else that’s actually traceable.

Step 2:

Receive coins from your exchange in order to send them on to your Bitcoin online casino. Click the “Wallet” icon within Exodus, navigate to your chosen crypto, and click the “Receive” button. As in the Binance example above, you now copy your unique address, which in turn is entered into the exchange’s withdrawal section.

Again, transferring funds from the crypto casino back into your wallet is identical to transferring funds to an exchange. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide what to do with the cryptos you have won at the casino. Paste the Receiving address in your wallet for the respective coin/token in the withdrawal section of your crypto casino and you’re ready to go.

Bitcoin Live Dealer Games and Slots

Once you’ve topped up your Bitcoin casino wallet or loaded your account with other cryptocurrencies, you’ll want to find something to play. Today, all your favourite software providers have developed games that are Bitcoin compatible, and many accept stakes made using other cryptocurrencies, too.

You can find a wealth of top Bitcoin slots to play right here. However, if you fancy something a touch more luxurious, live casino kingpin, Evolution Gaming, leads the way in crypto-friendly tables. Here is a brief look at some of the most recommended live dealer table games that Asian players can expect to see at cryptocurrency gambling sites today.

Live Table Games With Native Asian Dealers

In Asia-friendly crypto casinos such as BitStarz and Bitcasino, you will also find various live table games operated by native-speaking dealers, for example in Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese. These games or tables are again offered by Evolution Gaming, but also by eBet and One Touch (see Bitcoin live baccarat below). As you can imagine, the range of games with Asian croupiers mainly includes baccarat titles, but also various roulette titles.

One Touch Bitcoin Live Baccarat

Tip: If you are serious about your Bitcoin table games, we recommend Bitcasino for its sheer variety. More than 150 tables are on offer. In addition to the obvious provider Evolution and the already mentioned brands eBet and One Touch, you can also find live dealer titles from Microgaming, the massive Asia Gaming brand, Ezugi and Pragmatic Play – all quality names. In addition, Bitcasino regularly runs table games and slot tournaments, which is also the case at BitStarz.

Speed Baccarat

A high-paced game where the action lasts less than fifty seconds. Speed Baccarat uses eight 52-card decks, with betting rounds less than thirty seconds in length. If you want to play conventional baccarat but don’t have much time to do it, Evolution’s Speed Baccarat is undoubtedly for you.

Lightning Baccarat

Of all the baccarat variants you can play, Lightning Baccarat is arguably the most prosperous. In each game, lucky Lightning Cards can cough up multipliers worth up to 262,144x the rate of pay, all for a small cost of 20% of your original stake, allowing you to win $500,000 potentially.

By the way: The baccarat lovers among the crypto players might also be interested in our page on baccarat strategies.

Fan Tan

One of Evolution’s newer releases, Fan Tan, is based on a classic Asian guessing game. The live dealer will collect a series of beans and lay them out in rows of four. Guess how many leftover beans (none to four) there are on the final line to win. Expect odds, evens, big, small, Kwok, and Sheh-sam-hong side-bets to boot.

Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt

A live dealer take on the classic NetEnt slot Gonzo’s Quest, Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt, sees you guessing how many identical stones you can uncover from a prize wall, and you purchase “picks” to do that. Multipliers are woven into the game, too, and the more stones you uncover, the bigger your share of the spoils will be.

Blackjack

Choose from several top online blackjack games from Evolution Gaming. Live Blackjack offers you basic gameplay, while Speed Blackjack offers a fast-paced alternative. Infinite Blackjack permits betting behind, while Free Bet Blackjack allows you to double down for free on 9s, 10s or 11s, or pocket free splits on all pairs save for 10s. Power Blackjack lets you double down (even after a split) or opt to triple or quadruple down, while Salon Privé and VIP tables are also available. Low stakes gameplay is available in Blackjack Party. Most of these live games offer side-bets to boot and are BTC-friendly.

Roulette

Whether you want to play simplistic European Roulette, play with the racetrack in French Roulette, or enjoy double-zero bets in American Roulette, Evolution Gaming has something for you. Lightning Roulette provides multipliers for straight-up bettors, while Immersive Roulette allows you to take total control of the cameras. Speed Roulette, Mini Live Roulette, Instant Roulette, and Auto Roulette are ideal for gamers on the go without time to waste, while Double Ball Roulette and Dual Play Roulette tweaks the rules. You’ve also got VIP and Salon Privé tables if you fancy splashing those Bitcoins when betting.

Dragon Tiger

Few BTC-friendly live dealer games come simpler than Dragon Tiger. Bet on the dragon hand or the tiger hand, and if you bet on the highest value card, you’ll win. Ties and Suited Ties can add extra spice to what is an otherwise simplistic and easy to grasp game of chance.

Bitcoin Casino Slots Online

Below we list some of our favourite online slots that can also be played with Bitcoin and other cryptos.

Below you will come across several NetEnt titles, as it can be difficult to find a site where you can play these slots with crypto (even with BTC). Of the casinos we recommend here, Stake is the best option. The balance is displayed as FIAT equivalent, but you still use your crypto balance.

Book of Dead (Play’n GO)

If you ever wanted to play Novomatic’s classic Book of Ra with Bitcoin, the next best alternative is Book of Dead. Practically everything is identical between the two games, although Book of Dead’s RTP is higher at 96.21%. Land three book symbols and get 10 free spins with the expanding bonus scatter symbol feature (see example below) – timeless.

Aloha Party (EGT Interactive)

EGT may be a rather unknown crypto slots developer, especially in Asia. However, if you come across their games, then you should check out the beach-themed Aloha Party. With 1,024 ways to win and solid gameplay, this progressive jackpot slot packs a punch. The free spins with the up to 15x multiplier are a real gem not to be missed. Play Aloha Party at Bitcasino.

Blood Suckers (NetEnt)

If you are after more than just blood, then maybe a 3x multiplier during free spins, a cracking paytable and an RTP of 98% may be just what you’re looking for! This crypto slot by NetEnt is simply bloody good and a must for anyone who’s serious about online pokies.

NetEnt Blood Suckers Bitcoin slot

Gonzo’s Quest (NetEnt)

NetEnt boasts a staple of online slot machines that have already achieved cult status. Jack and the Beanstalk, Starburst, Blood Suckers, Jack Hammer, but most of all Gonzo’s Quest. This is the big daddy of slots with the collapsing reels mechanics, although NetEnt is certainly not the pioneer of this feature. Be that as it may, the up to 15x multiplier during free spins is what countless players keep coming back for. Play Gonzo’s Quest at Stake.

Koi Princess (NetEnt)

NetEnt’s anime-style Bitcoin slot Koi Princess is filled to the brim with features – four to be exact, which hit randomly and make for varied gameplay. The same goes for the free spins with two modes on offer. But that’s not all, as there are other extras like an instant win feature and a bonus wheel waiting to be explored. Players who like their games varied will surely spin the reels here again and again to win themselves some crypto.

Big Win Cat (Play’n GO)

This cutesy 3-reel slot has more of a retro slot machine than one might think, namely due to its respin feature aimed at hitting full screens. This in turn opens up a bonus wheel with up to 10x multipliers. Sounds familiar? A pub-style pokie that we like, especially when played with Bitcoin. Play Big Win Cat at BitStarz.

If you like this type of game, you should also check out Take 5 by Gamomat, which has many similarities (more details on the developer below).

Wolf Gold (Pragmatic Play)

As you can safely assume, there are countless slots with wolves as the figurehead, but Wolf Gold by Pragmatic Play stands out here as one of the more well-known titles. As well, the Pragmatic slots are worth a special mention, as they somehow feel more grown-up and not as childish as the games by some other developers. Stacked wilds and random money symbols line the reels and when six of them hit, the money respin feature is triggered with a chance to win one of the non-progressive jackpots.

Starburst (NetEnt)

The NetEnt classic Starburst is as straightforward as it is popular. Expanding Wilds and the Win Both Ways mechanic sum up this slot. If you’re looking for a little more action, you might be interested in the far more volatile sequel Starburst XXXtreme with its impressive multipliers. Play Starburst and the XXXtreme version at Stake.

Explodiac (Gamomat)

The German slot machine manufacturer Gamomat is known for its “Book of” titles such as Book of Madness, but also Ramses Book or Books & Pearls, as well as for classic retro-style fruit slots. Explodiac is one of several fruit slots, but with an extra, the bomb symbol, a surrounding wild. This symbol can turn up to eight surrounding symbols into wilds, provided it lands on the middle third reel. The Expandable, also from Gamomat, is an identical game – both highly volatile, but when the wins come, they tend to be big.

Our Favourite Cryptocurrency Exchanges

While some crypto casinos offer the option to acquire Bitcoin and various other coins for gameplay (via third-party providers with card payments), we still recommend visiting an actual exchange / trading platform. Doing so will see you pay lower rates than a typical cryptocurrency casino offers.

If you’re new to visiting crypto exchanges or are merely looking for an alternative to your current broker, where do you begin? Here at AsiaOnlineCasinos.com, we’ve put together the definitive list of our favourite Asia-friendly cryptocurrency exchanges.

Binance.com

Binance Logo

Binance is often considered the primary rival to Coinbase, and we think it is arguably better. Since they have very low fees and also the most liquidity of any crypto trading platform, these two details alone make Binance our top choice (“liquidity”, meaning that your buy and sell orders are almost guaranteed to be executed (filled) on time).

While it is true that there is a bit of a learning curve involved with Binance, it facilitates the exchanging of hundreds of cryptocurrencies. You’re sure to find what you’re looking for.

There are three tiers you can choose from based on your trading experience. The low fees, 2FA verification system, and wealth of transactions supported make Binance our preferred option. The limit on maximum trades is suitably high. It is also Asia-friendly.

Binance Key Details

  • Coins: 384
  • Markets e.g. BTC/USD, ETH/BTC etc.: 1,662
  • Currencies Supported: AUD, CAD, CHF, EUR, GBP, HKD, IDR, INR, JPY, KRW, NZD, PHP, SGD, THB, TWD, USD, VND, and more
  • Score on CoinMarketCap.com: 9.9/10

The KYC Process at Binance

Binance is the largest crypto exchange and worth the recommendation, but it also has a sophisticated KYC (Know Your Customer) verification process. Note that the verification effort can vary depending on where you live.

While it is not uncommon to provide basic details such as country of residence, home address and a photo of an ID document (front and back), Binance also asks for a selfie – a pet hate for many of us, we would assume. However, you may also have to undergo facial recognition either via your webcam or mobile phone.

This concludes the level 1 verification that allows you to use most of the features of the platform and ensures high deposit and withdrawal limits. Interestingly, full verification (or “Verified Plus”) only requires proof of address. Considering that you’ve already been asked to do facial recognition, the proof of address feels like a small extra detail in retrospect.

Pros:

  • Binance has the most liquidity of all crypto trading platforms.
  • Dirt cheap fees (0.015% to 0.10%) purchase and trading.
  • Hundreds of cryptocurrencies supported.
  • Three-tier system for trading based on experience.
  • High transaction limits allow you to purchase large numbers of coins.
  • Supports its own hot wallet called Trust Wallet.
  • Good selection of trading bots.

Cons:

  • 3.5% to $10 fee for purchasing cryptocurrency with debit/credit cards.

Which Exchange Has the Easiest Verification?

Don’t feel like taking selfies or even undergoing facial recognition? Well, not every crypto trading platform requires this, but as regulation (or rather, government interference) increases, it’s becoming more common. Looking at all the exchanges featured here, Kraken seems to be the most relaxed of them all, mostly because it doesn’t require selfies or facial recognition. Thanks to the clear user interface, navigating the Kraken website is no challenge either.

Gate.io has an even simpler KYC verification process. If you’re willing to put up with the somewhat overwhelming interface, you can take full advantage of most of the features. However, the platform does not support direct bank or card transfers to the exchange, so you have to use a third-party service, which in turn has its own KYC process. Ultimately, it is up to you how much verification you can tolerate.

KuCoin.com

KuCoin Logo

We like KuCoin. Having launched in 2017, the Singapore-based exchange now supports over 700 cryptocurrencies, catering to buyers across Asia and Oceania. A built-in P2P exchange allows you to trade, and the exchange has some of the lowest fees around, which is always essential. It is particularly notable for featuring a wealth of small-scale cryptocurrencies alongside the mainstream altcoins. You just need to get around its interface, which offers in-depth analysis of the markets, but it is a touch intimidating for first time traders.

KuCoin Key Details

  • Coins: 774
  • Markets: 1,395
  • Currencies Supported: AUD, CAD, CHF, EUR, GBP, HKD, INR, JPY, KRW, MYR, NZD, PHP, SGD, TWD, USD, and more
  • Score on CoinMarketCap.com: 6.8/10

KuCoin is a lot more than a basic exchange. It permits crypto lending and runs a KuCoin Shares (KCS) scheme that offers bonuses and the chance to earn cryptocurrency. The website is available in a plethora of languages, including Korean, Thai, Malay, Indonesian, Filipino, Chinese, and Japanese.

The Verification Process at KuCoin

Right from the start, KuCoin allows you to deposit cryptocurrencies, exchange, margin trade and withdraw up to 5 BTC daily without verification. However, if you wish to deposit FIAT into your account (directly to the exchange, no third-party service required), you will need to go through KuCoin’s KYC process.

This is the standard process applicable to most exchanges. First, you have to provide your name, country of residence and an ID number. However, FIAT deposits are not yet activated with this. For this, you need to upload a photo of your ID (front and back) and a (annoying) selfie holding both your ID and a written note. Once this is done, the approval can take a few hours, but generally no longer than a day.

Pros:

  • Has arguably amongst the lowest fees around.
  • Supports a broad selection of lesser-known altcoins.
  • FIAT purchasing options are available.
  • No KYC checks for buyers.
  • Reliable customer service team available 24/7 for assistance.
  • Allows the creation of (KuCoin) bots with different trading strategies.

Cons:

  • It doesn’t permit FIAT trading between parties.
  • The interface can appear challenging for first-timers.

Kraken.com

Kraken Logo

Kraken is one of the most recognisable crypto exchanges, with a history stretching back to 2011. You can buy and sell over 190 coins and assets at this high liquidity exchange. As with most of the other exchanges mentioned here, Kraken is a good place to start accumulating coins for transfer to your online casino of choice.

This trading platform does not require a huge learning curve for beginners due to its clean user interface. In fact, you can find many detailed support articles explaining even the simplest terms (similar to Binance’s “Academy”). That said, for those in the know, this centralised exchange offers decent staking options for earning passive income and provides crypto futures and spot trading at current market rates.

Kraken Key Details

  • Coins: 219
  • Markets: 790
  • Currencies Supported: AUD, CAD, CHF, EUR, GBP, JPY, USD
  • Score on CoinMarketCap.com: 7.8/10

The KYC Process at Kraken

KYC hurdles are a touch more in-depth but not as extensive as some competing exchanges. You’ll quickly clear level 1 with nothing more than an address, photo ID, proving where you got your money from, and your occupation. You just pick the answer to the last two points from pre-set options, so it’s pretty straightforward. Also, with Kraken, you don’t have to undergo the ordeal of biometric KYC, taking selfies and the like. However, that doesn’t unlock FIAT deposits and withdrawals. To do that, you’ll also need to provide proof of address.

Kraken KYC verification

All in all, it surpasses Binance and KuCoin in terms of the simplicity of the verification process (in our experience, everything was completed fast). Moreover, the rewards for clearing this hurdle are generally decent. Besides FIAT bank deposits directly to the exchange (no third-party service required), you’ll get reasonable fees, access to Kraken Pro and its more advanced interface, and the potential to receive rewards for staked coins.

Pros:

  • No learning curve for first-timers.
  • Associated with moderately/reasonably low fees.
  • Decent staking options for earning passive income.
  • Provides advanced trading features.
  • Experienced and friendly live chat support.

Cons:

  • Of course, the choice of markets is much smaller, but any aspiring investor will be satisfied.

Gate.io

Gate.io Logo

Gate.io is renowned for being a straightforward platform compared to rival crypto exchanges. Created in 2013, Gate is regularly ranked as one of the top ten cryptocurrency exchanges on the net and is particularly prevalent in Asia. In addition, it may be interesting to know that this centralised exchange also has its own token, known as the Gate Token (GT).

Crypto users in Malaysia and Singapore are set to miss out, but Chinese, Japanese, and Hong Kong members can engage in spot trading with an ample array of whitelisted cryptocurrencies. Besides English, the site is available in Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese. Of course, our friends in Oceania can also join the party!

Gate.io Key Details

  • Coins: 1,569
  • Markets: 2,604/li>
  • Currencies Supported: EUR, KRW
  • Score on CoinMarketCap.com: 6.5/10

Registered traders can expect different fee structures (withdrawals and trading), but there are no deposit fees. Providing Google Authenticator 2FA, SMS notifications, blind IP logins, and a separate password for fund withdrawals, Gate.io has plenty of robust security features thrown in, making it an attractive proposition for Asian investors and online casino players alike.

The Verification Process at Gate.io

In our experience, Gate.io has a simple verification process. Level 1 verification (consisting of your name, date of birth, residence details and an ID number) is enough to see you start depositing and withdrawing with FIAT currencies. Again, no selfies where you’re somehow holding your ID and a paper with a written note…

While that’s great, the downside is that this exchange doesn’t allow direct bank transfers. In other words, a third-party (on-ramp) service such as Coinify, Simplex or Banxa must be used (also for deposits by card). On-ramp services have their own KYC process, which is irritating unless you are already a customer with one of these providers.

Pros:

  • Huge selection of available cryptocurrencies.
  • Typically has low service fees of around 0.2%.
  • Utilises a simple, minimalistic, and straightforward verification process.
  • Supports trading bots.

Cons:

  • Does not allow FIAT bank deposits directly to the exchange.
  • Potentially overwhelming interface, so generally not the best starting place for inexperienced investors.
  • The exchange was previously hacked.
